Once an Earl Grey, always an Earl Grey!
Earl Grey tea is truly the star of tea time for our British friends...But not only that!
Did you know that this little tea with its delicious citrus flavor is one of the most famous teas in the world?
Except…oh, oh: commercial Earl Grey teas all use bergamot flavorings or essential oils...
But you know us: among marmots, the most beautiful tea stories are always written with real fruits, real plants and real spices...and nothing else.
It may be a small thing for you, but it means a lot to us!
So there was no question of missing out on this marvel: without further ado, our master infusers put their minds to work to take on a challenge, one of the biggest ever undertaken at the burrow: to create one of the rare Earl Grey teas without any added flavoring!
- First step? Select the right black tea.
- Second crucial step: find quality bergamots.
- Step three: experiment with not one, but dozens of recipes until you reach...one fine day, THE right one. Real citrus zest, an intense black tea, and a secret weapon: a hint of cardamom, the little marmot touch that changes everything!
An Earl Grey tea (and some oranges) to reach the Milky Way
Drinking tea with milk is a deep-rooted tradition in Anglo-Saxon countries, particularly in England, the birthplace of tea time.
Originally, milk was added to soften strong black teas... but also to protect fine china from scalding water (yes, the cups of the time weren't very sturdy!).
If, like Yodie and Grison, you've set your mind to searching for the perfect candidate for a tea latte... Then you've found it! With its intense and floral bergamot, Earl Grey tea is a black tea full of strength and finesse: perfect for a splash (or more) of milk!
This is also why the Earl Grey Latte has become a coffee shop classic—sometimes called London Fog when vanilla is added.
But let's get back to our sheep, finally, to our marmots!
For a super-comforting autumnal version, we opted for a touch of honey, a mild plant-based milk to let the citrus notes shine through...And a few candied oranges. They're the cherry (or rather, the peel) on the cake: they create the link between roundness and pep. Everything we need!
This Tea Latte recipe is suitable for vegetarians and people with lactose intolerance, as it uses plant-based milk.
For a vegan or vegan-friendly latte, replace the honey with sugar or agave syrup.

Ingredients Bergamot-Orange Latte Tea
- 2 bags of Earl Grey Tea Les 2 Marmottes
- 250 ml of almond milk
- 1 tsp orange blossom honey
- 1 pinch of organic orange zest
- A few cubes of candied orange as a topping
It is best to use organically grown oranges to limit the amount of pesticides present in the orange zest.
If you don't like almond milk, you can substitute another plant-based milk of your choice.
For a richer latte, you can also use milk instead of plant-based milk.

Recipe for Earl Grey Orange Latte:
Preparation time: less than 10 minutes.
- Zest the orange.
- Infuse Earl Grey tea in hot water at 100°C (50 ml) for 4 minutes.
- Meanwhile, heat the almond milk with the orange zest and honey.
- Froth. Remove the tea bags, then pour the tea into a cup. Add the hot milk.
- Decorate with the candied orange cubes.
Your Earl Gray latte is ready!
Gourmet latte in hot cocktail version
A dash of Grand Marnier on top of that makes for a hot, steaming, but ultra-comforting cocktail* version!
And then, to warm up the citrus fruits, a hint of cinnamon will work wonders, it's up to you!
*Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health, consume in moderation.
Focus on orange blossom honey for a sunny cup
In this recipe, we've chosen an ingredient as delicate as it is luminous: orange blossom honey. Derived from the blossoms of the orange tree, it has that little something extra that makes all the difference: a subtle, slightly fruity taste, with floral and zesty notes.
Perfect for pairing with Earl Grey tea, it highlights the freshness of bergamot and candied orange, while softening the black tea. And because it's milder than chestnut or acacia honey, it doesn't mask anything—it discreetly embraces the flavors.
And yes, in nature, bees and flowers get along wonderfully! It's no surprise then that once reunited in the cup, honey and our favorite plants find themselves in... honeymoon mode!
