The reason the elderberry is so self-confident is that its pretty white flowers and juicy black berries were already a hit with prehistoric man! It is said that the latter regularly concocted a fermented drink from elderberry... As you can imagine, we prefer to drink it as a herbal tea!
Black elder has long been considered a 'magic' plant because it can be used from head to toe.
Flowers, fruit, bark, seeds: everything elderberry is good!
A real ally for cold and flu-like symptoms, elderberry acts as an antiviral agent and helps to reduce a temperature with its diaphoretic properties (in other words, its ability to make us sweat!).
Once infused, elderflowers can also be used to relieve the puffy eyelids and soothe styes or conjunctivitis.
The elderberry is native to ancient Europe and is a giant shrub that can grow up to 6 metres tall!
It lives happily in woods and hedgerows and sometimes in gardens.
In the spring, when its small white flowers are showing their petals, we hustle to the countryside to harvest them.
The fruits (or rather the flowers!) of this wild harvest are then brought to our workshop in Bons-en-Chablais, Haute-Savoie.
The most surprising thing about elderberry is the almost unpleasant smell of its fresh flowers!
Fortunately, once dried and pampered, their fragrance changes completely... So much so that we want to use them in everything!
Inspired by its sweet, floral nature, our brewmasters have come up with an irresistible Tutti Blossom trio: raspberry, hibiscus flowers and elderflower, naturally!
A subtly flowery and fruity tea to be enjoyed throughout the day.
