Before talking to you about licorice , we asked Maître Capello if the word licorice was masculine or feminine. Here is what he told us: "we say 'la' licorice to evoke the plant and 'le' licorice to talk about sweets!" Now that we know the rule, we can tell you the wonderful story of this plant with rhizomes - horizontal underground stems - and its benefits.

What are the benefits of licorice in infusions?

With licorice , you don't know where to start!

Traditionally used to relieve sore throats , coughs, stomach aches, joint pain, chronic fatigue: wow, it's on all fronts! It's also one of the most widely used medicinal plants in the world.

According to our friend Hippocrates (and in Chinese medicine), it is even an elixir of long life.

And to top it all off, licorice is also refreshing and delicious! That's how licorice is, it does everything to make you feel good.

However, be careful when consuming it if you suffer from high blood pressure or are pregnant : ask a health professional for advice.

What licorice is used in Les 2 Marmottes infusions?

Often (and rightly so!) considered a treat, licorice contains glycyrrhizic acid, a constituent fifty times sweeter than sugar!

But beyond candy, licorice is a precious plant whose rhizomes have been used for thousands of years in Europe and Asia.

Harvested in the fall, they are then dried and selected by our master brewers in our factory in Bons-en-Chablais, in Haute-Savoie.

In which recipes do our master infusers use licorice?

Although it's frequently found in Southern Europe and Asia, we prefer it in our organic Mint-Licorice infusion ! A winning duo that delights gourmets in hot or cold versions.

Same fight in the Strong Spiced Tea where the liquorice slips into the finish!
