A Marmotte Vanilla Latte

Originally, the Vanilla Latte, which sometimes comes in the form of a vanilla-caramel latte, is this sweet blend of frothy milk and vanilla, the undisputed star of coffee shop counters. But at Les 2 Marmottes, there's no question of artificial flavors or magic powders: we're going 100% plant-based, and that changes everything!

Our Vanilla tea combines full-bodied black tea with the natural roundness of vanilla, and as always, it doesn't contain a single hint of added flavoring.

What makes it perfect for latte recipes? Intense, round vanilla, notes of dried fruit, rum, and raisin... and that little something that makes it feel like you're drinking dessert, without ever being too sweet.

At the same time, what more could you ask for when you have authentic, finely chopped vanilla pods at the bottom of the cup?

This Vanilla-Caramel Tea Latte recipe is suitable for vegetarians or those with lactose intolerance as it uses plant-based milk.

For a vegan vanilla latte, replace the salted butter caramel with homemade 100% sugar liquid caramel.

Vanilla-caramel tea latte ingredients

  • 1 bag of Les 2 Marmottes Vanilla black tea
  • 200 ml of oat milk
  • 50 ml of hot water
  • 1 tsp salted butter caramel (homemade if you have the time, it's even better!)
  • A cloud of whipped cream (optional but so regressive)
  • A pinch of fleur de sel for the topping
  • Optional: more caramel for the topping (yum)

If you're making your own salted butter caramel, you'll also need sugar, salted butter, and single cream. Adjust the proportions depending on the amount of caramel you want to make. For 4 people, you'll need 150g of sugar, 80g of salted butter cut into pieces, and 20cl of cream.

Vanilla-salted caramel latte preparation

Preparation time: 5 minutes (15 minutes if you make your own caramel)

  1. Optional: Prepare the salted butter caramel (for the more motivated, otherwise store-bought caramel will do). Heat the cream and set aside, keeping it warm. Heat the sugar over low heat, stirring until you obtain a liquid, amber-colored caramel. Add the butter, stirring constantly. Add the hot cream, stirring constantly, until the desired consistency is reached.
  2. Steep the tea in hot water for 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, gently heat the oat milk with the caramel until melted.
  4. Froth the milk (by hand, with a frother, or in barista mode).
  5. Pour the tea into a clear cup, add the frothy milk.
  6. 6. Bonus option: top it all off with a cloud of whipped cream and sprinkle with fleur de sel.

The little extra tip

Place a small spoonful of caramel at the bottom of the cup before pouring in your milk...

Surprise at the end of the tasting: a melting heart with each sip...for a moment of tenderness worthy of a real marmot hug!

No compromise on indulgence!

At our place, indulgence rhymes with creativity and simplicity. No need for flavorings or chemicals to indulge yourself: all you need is a good tea, a well-chosen plant-based milk, and two or three clever ingredients to transform your cup into a truly delicious moment.

So, for our little gourmet recipes, we share with you our 5 marmot commandments:

• You will avoid flavors (often too chemical)

• You will read the labels (if you see incomprehensible names or too many additives, move on!)

• You will choose quality dairy products (opt for versions without additives, for example).

• You will consume seasonal fruits (The must: organic fruits or those from short supply chains to avoid pesticide residues).

• You will bet on the balance of flavors (a little salt to spice things up, some spices, citrus zest and varied textures for drinks that are not too sweet).
