Known and consumed since the dawn of time in Asia, tea makes us drink all colors... or almost. Les 2 Marmottes helps you see more clearly between green tea and black tea .
Let us tell you the story of tea...
Once upon a time, it was an evergreen shrub cultivated in India, Ceylon and China since time immemorial.
Harvested year-round, its dark green leaves and sometimes its buds are used as a drink or as a remedy.
Its name, as you might guess, is tea ! Having become a cult in Asia, it even gave rise to numerous rituals before setting out to conquer the world.
The tastes and colors of teas
Initially, in nature, all tea leaves are green.
Once harvested, some will be fermented: they will then change color to become black.
Moral: All black teas are green teas , but not all green teas become black teas. Black tea is nothing more than oxidized green tea . Are you following us, or do we need to repeat ourselves?
When it comes to flavors, there's an incredible range of nuances. The taste of tea depends primarily on its terroir: to concoct Les 2 Marmottes Organic Green Tea , for example, our master brewers selected a full-bodied green tea grown in a mountainous region south of Yunnan Province. A change of scenery for our Organic Black Tea , which grows peacefully in India.
Green tea: the super antioxidant
Initially considered a medicinal plant, green tea has gradually become part of our daily lives. However, it hasn't lost its antioxidant power.
Its secret? The numerous polyphenols it contains, capable of neutralizing free radicals and fighting cell aging.
Black tea: the super invigorating
For its part, black tea is known for its theine content and its stimulating effect .
But that's far from its only advantage: as an antioxidant (even if oxidation reduces its polyphenol content), black tea could also play a beneficial role in digestive infections, migraines and even bad moods!
Verdict: Which tea is best for your health?
We'd like to tell you it's the same, but studies have shown that green tea is better for your health .
In any case, choose teas without added flavors (like those lovingly prepared by Les 2 Marmottes in Bons-en-Chablais) and don't fill your cup with sugar (that would be a shame, especially if you're counting on the slimming effect of tea ).
