In reality, concocting an organic Earl Grey tea without any added flavoring was a real challenge for our master brewers.
Indeed, commercial Earl Grey teas all use bergamot flavorings or essential oil. This is a far cry from the slice of bergamot (a rare citrus fruit at the time) that , according to legend, Earl Charles Grey dipped into his cup of tea to create the beverage that now bears his name.
