Because many of you wonder how our infusions and teas are made , we decided to tell you the story of mint ... Or how Les 2 Marmottes select and mix the best plants to naturally concoct top-notch recipes for you, without added flavors.
It is in France, with our organic producer , that peppermint is thriving.
Immediately after harvesting, the small, fragrant leaves are gently dried using a low-temperature dryer.
Once dried, the mint leaves are placed in large 20 or 25 kg bags. And off they go, to the burrow of the 2 Marmottes in Bons-en-Chablais, in Haute-Savoie.
Discover our mint infusionsAs soon as it is received by our master infusers , the dried mint (not cut yet) is quarantined. Samples are taken and sent to the laboratory for analysis.
In the lab, the peppermint is put under scrutiny. The plant is examined and analyzed from top to bottom to ensure it is in tip-top shape. If the mint sample shows no abnormalities, the adventure continues!
Once the lab gives the green light, the mint leaves take a quick spin in our cutting machine. Typically, our master brewers are never far from the sieve: cutting the plants is a key step in making a quality infusion .
Before being mixed and ending up in your bag, all our plants are "debacterized" by us; in other words, they are vacuum-packed and injected with dry steam (with zero chemicals) for 30 to 45 minutes at 73°.
That's it, our lovely peppermint is ready to be blended into a worthy herbal tea. Our master infusers draw from the various bags of dried and cut plants to create an original recipe. A little peppermint, a few sweet mint leaves, some verbena , and that's it.
There is no question of letting our infusions leave the workshop without having tasted them.
A sample is then taken, infused and tasted in hot and cold versions depending on the recipe.
The mixture is ready, the recipe is good, the bags are well filled but... we still have to wait for the results of the microbiological analysis to put them in cans.
Good news: the sample meets the specifications and the analyses are good. The packaging process can begin! In our Bons en Chablais workshop, this takes place in a pressurized room where the humidity and temperature are constantly monitored. (We pamper your infusions!)
All the boxes are then stored in our warehouse in Haute-Savoie (it also makes a nice multi-colored wall) before being shipped directly to you .
