ZZzzzzzzzzz… Bien dormir, c’est essentiel !

We spend an average of a third of our lives sleeping ! While some may see it as wasted time, sleep specialists like our marmots are adamant: sleep is good for your health!

Energy, memory, emotional management, immune system: while we sleep, our body and mind regenerate without anyone noticing.

While we snore, while we dream, our cells repair themselves, our brain sorts things out, our muscles perk up, our organs recover, our mood stabilizes: in short, we work hard from head to toe and it is therefore no coincidence that we talk about "restorative" sleep !

The bottom line is, the better quality your sleep, the more physically and mentally prepared you will be to face the next day.

Even though we sometimes tend to forget it, sleep is one of the keys to feeling good about yourself.

To raise awareness among the French about the importance of sleeping well, a Sleep Day is organized every year in March, at the initiative of the National Institute of Sleep and Vigilance (INSV).

The goal of this day dedicated to sleep? To raise awareness that quality sleep can change everything... especially if combined with a balanced diet and regular physical activity.

Sleep, move, eat: that's the winning trio for good health and the key to long-term well-being.

Sleeping little, not enough, or poorly can have detrimental effects on our health. As mentioned above, our bodies need this rest time to function at full capacity during the day.

But that's not all, according to the National Institute of Sleep and Vigilance: lack of sleep can also have an influence on the way we eat and our motivation.

Indeed, if our biological clock is disturbed or out of sync, our daily lives will suffer.

In the long term, insufficient or poor quality sleep can even lead to a lack of attention, efficiency and motivation, emotional fragility, a risk of depression, a reduction in immune defenses, a risk of obesity and diabetes, high blood pressure, physical discomfort and pain, and even learning difficulties*.

Sleep needs vary from person to person. The best compass is your own well-being!

If you wake up feeling rested, in a good mood, and approaching the day with serenity, then there's a good chance you had a good night's sleep.

On the other hand, if your nights are interrupted and you suffer from insomnia, this is certainly a sign of disturbed sleep.

The other indicator is your energy reserves: if you have a lot of energy slumps during the day, if you fall asleep easily, then you might need to look at your sleep!

Overall, keep in mind that a good night's sleep should allow you to move forward in your daily life and take life on the bright side.

To fall asleep easily and have a peaceful night, you can set up a special sleep routine .

It could consist of:

- Limit exposure to screens at least 1 hour before going to bed (yes, turn off the phone and the TV!)

- Do a relaxation session at the end of the day (yoga, sophrology, meditation, etc.), possibly with a relaxing playlist to help you fall asleep

- Go to bed at the same time every night

- Watch your diet, especially at dinner time (no alcohol, no caffeine, no foods that are too fatty or too heavy)

- Practice a sporting activity (if possible before 7 p.m.)

- Let yourself be lulled by a hot, non-exciting drink (forget tea and coffee), why not drink a herbal tea with honey .

All these little things can help you sleep better .

If you have significant and/or prolonged sleep problems, do not hesitate to consult a healthcare professional.

A true evening ritual, evening herbal teas can also help you fall into the arms of Morpheus.

Thanks to the calming and relaxing effect of plants, certain infusions will help the sandman pass!

In the category of herbal teas to drink before going to sleep , we think for example of 1,2,3… Sommeil and its blend of Melissa and Lemon, Fée Nuit with its magical bouquet of Fennel and Verbena or Relax et Moi , a cocktail of linden, chamomile and orange petals.

If you prefer plants on their own, then opt for Verbena or Chamomile before going under the covers.

They won't tell you a story, but they will say goodnight from the bottom of their cup!
