He began the 2 Marmottes adventure almost 20 years ago.
The years pass, but his passion for his work remains unchanged. A complete and varied body of work, enriched over time by encounters.
And since Richard, master brewer, is a sharer, he has agreed to share part of his experience with you!
At the burrow, when we want to gather information on one of our producers , we knock on Richard's door.
And we're never disappointed. Because he has so many stories to tell us. He has long-standing relationships with our pickers.
Partnerships based on trust and listening, which allow the 2 Marmottes to move forward, improve and continually offer new things.
Valuable relationships for our quality manager who regularly visits the farms to ensure that all the conditions are met for successful harvests.
A necessary step in the production of our 100% plant-based infusions and teas!
At Les 2 Marmottes, we like to offer you the best. And Richard, you don't have to tell him twice.
Quality is his thing. Most harvests begin between April and October. These are important times for our quality manager, who doesn't miss a single thing, working alongside François, the burrow's crop master.
At each harvest, he participates in the tasting phase alongside our producers. The taste, smell, and appearance are all checked... And yes, at Les 2 Marmottes, everything is a story of harmony.
All organoleptic qualities are examined and compared to the previous harvest. If they tick all the boxes, then the harvest can be carried out.
The plants are then sent to 3 independent laboratories for complete analyses:
1 - Varietal recognition (adaptation of the plant to its environment: climate, soil, etc.)
2 - The search for contaminants (heavy metals, pesticides, micro-toxins)
And, yes! Richard's work doesn't stop there.
Once all these steps have been completed, the plant continues to be sown in the burrow.
Time for packaging: cleaning the lines, checking the grain size, plant density, checking the cutting.
A process rigorously examined by our quality manager.
Our recyclable cardboard boxes also require attention and require 17 control points such as symmetry, weight, cutting, sealing and even storage.
So many steps mastered by Richard, and no less than a month and a half of work to make an infusion, from field to cup. As you can see, not all marmots hibernate...!
Focus on making an infusion
