La Tournette : perchée au-dessus d’Annecy

The 2 Marmots, they're all about nature! And this summer, they're taking you on a hike to their favorite spots to help you discover their region, Haute-Savoie. Today, we're taking you to Annecy for a hike worth the detour. Grab your water bottle with a nice cold infusion and head to the Bornes massif.

It's impossible to miss. If you've ever dipped even a toe in the turquoise waters of Lake Annecy, then you've definitely seen La Tournette.

From its height of 2,351 m, this stone giant with limestone cliffs watches over the Bornes massif like no one else.

Among all the trails (each more beautiful than the last) that allow access to it, we must admit that we have a weakness for the one that starts at the Pré Revel refuge.

This is certainly the most gourmet route since it will take you to the Chalet d'Aulp, a renowned high-altitude restaurant of the kind.

Before you set foot under the table, you'll need to lace up your hiking boots. The trail begins gently, and the comforting view of Lake Annecy, never far away, warms the heart.

Once at the Chalet d'Aulp (1429 m), you have two options: leave without looking at the menu (even if you have to sit down on the way back), or order a tartiflette.

Cheese (especially farmhouse Reblochon) is good. Blueberry tart is good, but... you'll have to leave. Before taking off, take the time to sip a Fennel infusion , so you can head back to the summit with a slightly lighter stomach! And take the opportunity to fill your water bottles.

Before you see the Tournette cross and reach the famous Fauteuil (nickname of the Tournette), expect to suffer a bit!

In the final section, elevation and verticality will be the key words! At times, you'll need your legs as much as your arms.

After these technical passages equipped with chains or ladders, take the time to breathe and sip a Lemon-Ginger infusion . A guaranteed refreshing effect to get you going again.

Just a few more steps and a few more sips before taking in the sights... The Bornes, Bauges and Ecrins massifs, the Aravis range, the Swiss Alps, Mont-Blanc: the Tournette would almost make us dizzy!

To recover from your emotions, there's nothing like a night in a bivouac. A beautiful sunset behind Lake Annecy, a Fairy Night infusion , and then off to bed!
