Heading to Morocco to meet Omar, our rose grower.
Kelâat M'Gouna, a small town in southern Morocco, is world-renowned for two reasons: its irresistible Ahidouss dancers and its now-famous rose festival. Even though the Marmots have rhythm in their blood, it's towards the flowers that we ventured!
The first time Les 2 Marmottes crossed the Mediterranean, it was to meet the father of our rose grower . Lovers of flowers from generation to generation, they have made the family farm a small fragrant paradise: 20 hectares of fields where rose bushes live happily and 5 hectares of interior surfaces to dry the freshly harvested petals. First planted along the edge of houses to demarcate properties or to separate agricultural plots, the rose bushes of Kelâat M'Gouna have seduced "noses" from all over the world thanks to their enchanting fragrance! They have even been awarded a PDO (Protected Designation of Origin).
It must be said that the little rose of M'Gouna has everything a great one has: a pretty pink color and a fragrance to die for! This is what has made it so popular with the world's leading perfumers, from Grasse to New York. Luckily for us (and for you!), our producer reserves a portion of his production for us every year. From the middle of April, in the early morning, an army of 20 pickers are busy in the fields picking the roses one by one. And there's no question of hanging around: the roses must be harvested just after they open. Every morning for a month and a half, the petals and buds are collected before being dried on site for half a day.
Green tea with roseBefore arriving in your cup, the dried rose petals and buds will undergo a few more tests.
Omar calls on an external laboratory to carry out analyses on samples and we do the same on our side!
The goal? To achieve similar results with each blend to guarantee you the best of the plants in recipes with a unique aroma, like ourMince Alors , Mêlée de Fruits or Fée Nuit teas.
