Time to prepare for hibernation Advice from Richard, one the Brewmasters at Les 2 Marmottes
Many plants have soothing properties and are known to promote better sleep. But all too often, we put the benefit before the taste, but both together is way better! At Les 2 Marmottes, we choose plants for our blends according to their properties, but we also study how to combine the flavours for maximum well-being.
When we say "plants for better sleep", chamomile is the first to spring to mind, it promotes good sleep and has a soft, calming honeyed taste.
Next there's Verbena, the herb of the Druids, said to ease stress and anxiety. We like its slightly lemony taste that adds herbal hint to some of our blends like Marmot Herbal Tea.
Linden, with its sweeter scent, as well as orange blossom and petals, is also great for comforting over-tired minds. Get ready for a restful night ,plant-style...
Each to their own ritual!
You don't need a magic wand to concoct soothing herbal teas Just plants, common sense and a desire to find the right taste. If the taste is too strong, it could put you off your nap. And of course, avoid plants containing caffeine, such as green tea or guarana.
We have over 50 plants in our workshop in Bons-en-Chablais. Each one has its role. In our Night Fairy infusion, the orange blossom petals create a unique taste, for a calming, soothing night.
On that note, I'm going to take a nap... at Les 2 Marmottes, we like to work at our own pace.
