Marmots in Morocco

Les Marmottes au Maroc

This summer our Marmots are on the move. After a first stop in Corsica , they have just packed their suitcases and are heading to Morocco... Follow them on this journey full of color and flavor.

Between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean, the peaks of the Atlas Mountains and the dunes of the Sahara, our two Marmots have found a real playground. During their travels, they have come across tons of plants and flowers that have warmed their hearts. They even tried surfing near Darla, but that's another story...

After saying hello to Omar, the small rose grower who provides the burrow with its most fragrant petals, the marmots began their journey.

With its medina listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Essaouira has been a dream destination for our two Marmots for ages. After befriending a few seagulls along the port, they ventured into the alleys of the old town. Secret alleys, a colorful souk, romantic ramparts, sunny squares, and unlimited tagines... It seems our two Marmots have fallen under Essaouira's spell.

The perfect recipes to pack in your suitcase:

Winter Thrills : with its powerful spicy flavors, you will stay in the Essaouira atmosphere

Menth'Olé Tea : sipped 20 to 30 times a day for some, Green Tea with Mint is more than ever part of Moroccan daily life.

Even though they are used to the mountains, our 2 Marmots had a tough time reaching the summit of the Atlas (4167 m all the same!). Throughout their hike, they found motivation in the many wild plants that invite themselves into the scenery, from the valleys to the high plateaus of the Atlas! Pistachio trees to nibble on, lavender with cut leaves, funny dwarf palm trees and a few sprigs of thyme to nibble on, just to forget the difference in altitude!

The Atlas on a platter:

Rose tea : Because your backpack is always too heavy, opt for something a little lighter to climb the Atlas Mountains. Green tea, rose petals, verbena, and lavender will help you throughout the climb.

Cocktail Digest : In Morocco, the ancients say that sage was a sacred plant that was harvested with bare, well-washed feet! We suggest you make it simpler by putting sage directly into your cup (with a little green anise and fennel ).

When our two marmots learned they could sniff out nearly 300 species of plants at the Majorelle Garden, they immediately packed their suitcases for Marrakech. Founded by French painter Jacques Majorelle and then purchased by Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé, this incredible botanical garden is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Cacti, banana trees, palm trees, bamboo, fruit trees, rare plants, flowers galore: this visit whetted our marmots' appetites!

An infusion and a tea that put flowers in the spotlight

Rosehip Hibiscus : ruby color, tangy hibiscus note, fruity taste of rosehip… Yves Saint-Laurent would have loved it too!

Thé Mince Alors : Rediscover the joy of an extraordinary garden in your cup with this lavender tea, green tea, rose petals

They are lost in the middle of nowhere, hidden in the middle of the desert, we sometimes take them for mirages or miracles... And yet, oases really do exist! These little corners of life with lush vegetation appear as if by magic behind a dune, between two mountains or nestled in gorges. To find them, the road is often long and rough but the game is worth the candle: because in each oasis, magic happens!

To be enjoyed in the shade of palm trees and fruit trees

Tutti Fleuri : a blend of elderflowers, hibiscus flowers and raspberry bursts, enough to make your petals fall off!

Fairy Night : with its magical bouquet, a clever blend of fennel, verbena and orange petals, it is the ideal infusion for a dreamy night

Our two Marmots ended their trip to Morocco with a trip to the desert. It's true, they struggled, but they were amazed! Climbing the dunes, being captivated by the sunset, admiring all the nuances of the Sahara, spending an evening by the fire, sipping an infusion prepared over a wood fire, falling asleep under the starry desert sky, chatting with dromedaries and living to the rhythm of the nomads: it's simple, they loved it all!

Before or after a night in a bivouac

Mint-Licorice : Add a little freshness to your water bottle before a long walk in the desert.

Thyme : the nights are sometimes cold in the desert... To avoid a nasty sore throat , let yourself be lulled by the benefits of Thyme infusion .
